Version 4.0 of the UCALC Windows Graphing Calculator was created many years ago, and wasn't designed with Windows Vista in mind. Therefore, you may get an error message if you follow the normal installation procedure that works with older versions of Windows. Vista users can still run UCALC by following these steps (which are required only once):
- Download the UCALC 4.0 Windows calculator (listed above with the other downloads).
- Extract the file, and then install UCALC by running Setup.
- Now download UCALC 4.0 w/o the installation , and extract it.
- Right-click it and send the UCALC application (the one with the u icon) to the desktop.
If you download/install only the main UCALC 4.0 file and try to run that, or if you only download UCALC 4.0 w/o the installation, neither might work by itself on Vista. The first one installs certain key runtime files, but the administrative setting on your PC apparently may prevent that installation from running. But once the required runtime files are installed, the second download will work.
